After school, me and gf supposedly had a date to Sunsetway to try out the restaurants there amidst HDB. Heard of this on TV before, and saw it on people’s blogs, and hece decided to check it out. Got G to come along too
And hence off we went to check out.

At the bus stop, we had a funny punned conversation.
We were waiting for Bus C to bring us to UCC to take 151. so gf ask G if there was bus C in the far distance, and G said that she can’t see whether its a bus C, coz she don’t have her specs.

Finally Bus C came and up we went on the bus.

Happy gfs out on excursion after school. hahah. How many more of such days do we have?
With 151 jus behind Bus C, we quickly changed bus and took the bus to sunsetway. my first time to the area although I’ve heard so much stuff with regards to it. ie. the very nice icecream that zhengwei said he will bring us there, although I haven been to there. read somewhere recently that the icecream is made by a nus grad student, and its a local product. hmmm … maybe I can save that place for someone special. haha. when that day does come.

Obviously, since our destination was situated amidst HDB, we had to walked around the HDB shops to find it. Quite a nice walk through the petshops, wet market and etc…
Something different as compared to shopping malls and crowds of people.
Gf gettin excited coz she saw things that her dad n bro bought for their fishies at home.
We saw baby terrapins stacked on top of each other. I asked why the terrapin at the base allowed the rest to stack on top of it. Gf’s answer was that the shells are too hard for them to feel anything on top and hence they are probably oblivious to the presence of other terrapins above them. Really? haha. But aren’t they just cute that you would have the impulse to buy them home?
G spotted her shop. This some what felt like we’re back in Nepal and we saw some Grace’s clothes shop.
Walked around and we found blk 106. Target is nearby!
Since we reached at around 3 plus in the afternoon near to 4, and there was a shower before that, most of the restaurants were not opened, and it was pretty quiet. The place was just as mentioned in blogs and websites. Except that the dining area were no longer open-aired. Rather, there was some construction to build shelters over them. Good in the sense that diners won’t be affected by the rain, but I thought it made the whole area very dark and oppressed. Would prefer the open concept.
We settled for Peaberry and Pretzel for some afternoon coffee and dessert because gf had dinner at home waiting for her, G was still full, and the main course were too expensive .haha. Check out the menu.
Price of desserts
Price of main dishes. Being poor students, we don’t want to waste $ there, but since we were there, we had to indulge in some afternoon tea. haha
The shelf of cakes that was by far the cheapest, $6 each. x_x
We took some time to decide what we wanted. And this was G when we first came into the shop.
Waited for our food to be served…
The view of the arrangement outside, from the air-conditioned inside of the shop.
The table was set. and our yummy desserts started to come in!
)))
First up, Traditional Tiramisu. This is the best Tiramisu that I’ve tasted before. And the crunchy coco bits on top just make the whole thing fabulous.
Black Forest and Cherry Mousse.
The chocolate is just oooh-lala. The chocolate shavings just melt in your mouth. And we concluded that just by using a stick (biscuit, waffle whatever), it makes the whole dessert looks so much better. haha.
Pistachio Cake with Summer berries.
Not exactly a very fantastic choice. And couldn’t really taste pistachio. But I guess in view that the rest of the cakes that we were eating were rather cheesy/chocolaty, this was a good variation to prevent us from gettin too queasy , plus it gave us something to munch on.
Pina Colada Cheesecake under G’s recommendation. It’s pineapple cheesecake. Although I highly suspect there’s only 1 piece of pineapple in the whole cake, coz I only heard G said she ate a piece of pineapple. Still, yummy cheesecake! ![]()
Makes me feel like jus going to eat it all over again! haha if I have the money , time, and won’t-get-fat figure.
Of course, afternoon high tea can’t do without coffee. got this from the shop’s website. Which also explains for the shop name.
Peaberries—coffee beans that grow alone in a single cherry—were once considered a defect, a deformed bean. Now, these small round beans are highly prized, and are sometimes even called the “caviar” of coffee.
For a long time, most roasters didn’t know much about this “black sheep” of the coffee family, just that it looked different than a regular bean—small and round instead of long and irregular. Growers were asked to sort Peaberries out by hand, just as they would any other defect.
Then, roasters began to notice that Peaberry’s single bean had a very concentrated aroma and flavor. Intuitively, it made sense—if the tree was growing just one bean per cherry instead of two, then wouldn’t that bean get twice as much flavor, aroma and acidity? Intrigued, roasters began to ask farmers to separate the Peaberry from the coffee—not as a defect this time, but as a special coffee in its own right.
After a few years, however, the farmers were less willing to sort the Peaberries out. When the Peaberry was taken out, cuppers found that it reduced the cup profile and the cupping scores of the regular coffee began to drop.
Thus, the Peaberry has come full circle. From its humble beginnings as the “runt of the litter,” it has now grown into something of a celebrity in the cup.
Me and Gf both got a couple coffee. 2 cups for $9. Saved on a buck or so. We both got mocha. I requested for a “love” design on my drink, which didn’t really turn out very well. Gf’s original spider web design looks gd.
At least the heart shape can be seen. But the original design that I wanted was to have a L-O-V-E on the heart.haha.
Notice G’s change in looks after we spent a LOT of time taking pictures of the food and drinks and hence she couldn’t start eating.hahaha.
But we haven had enough of pic!
We have peaberry and pretzel in our hands!
And yes, we’re going to eat it!
Finally, a pic before we start pigging out.
3 happy hdb-taitais. hahaha. I love afternoon teas! coupled with the random things that we say. Just let the lazy afternoon wild away… no worries, no stress.
made our payment and G and I were passing coins to each other and got our hands in this heart shaped position.hahaha

Walked out of the shop and we saw 镇发活海鲜 which I’ve only heard on tv before. The Fish is really humongous.
